In traditional black and white photography one must create their own recipe for the final silver print. This is a hands on tactile process with exploration in materials and chemistry.
With the use of sheet film I am able to customize every individual negative.
I prefer stain developing the negative with minimal agitation. This gives the negative a sepia tone that pulls in the subtle nuances in the dense highlights giving rich details in the whites.
The silver gelatin print is processed by making use of the differing performance produced by combining low contrast and high contrast exposures in the same print.
This is where the visual art performance comes into play by choosing light times and contrast exposures as your pallet for painting with light.
The final presentation of a silver print is ultimately chosen by the visual artist. My work follows a classical approach where I dry mount my silver prints with all PAT certified materials. The true flatness of the print gives an audience optimal long lasting enjoyment. As a collection all silver prints offered as limited editions will be processed through strict archival guidelines and will last for centuries.
